However, growing cannabis and selling it is a much bigger offense. Anyone who cultivates any plant of cannabis may be face a HK$100 000 fine and a 15-year prison sentence.

So far, there is no strong initiative to loosen up these harsh laws. In fact, police weed hunt is increasing annually – this goes for those who cultivate. However, if you are just casually smoking it in a private place, no one will probably bother you.

Just don’t go strolling down the street puffing that stuff because police will bust you even if you are foreigner. As a part of a Communist country (China), police tends to often ask tourists (foreign spies) their ID’s and do a quick search so make sure you hide your joint or a bag of weed in a secluded place, like your sock or shoe – DO NOT keep it in your cigarette box or a similar obvious place.

Where to get weed in Hong Kong

Most likely place to find weed in Hong Kong would of course be downtown city, or Kwoloon as they call it. Almost all of the nightlife takes place there and you should try your luck in either Chunking or Mirador mansions, look for either Africans or suspicious looking locals and they should be able to hook you up.

You can also try getting some in the city park during the night time but be wary that the dealers will try to scam tourists. Don’t get fooled, bargain for lower prices.

Furthermore, you can also ask around some of the younger vendors outdoors where you can score some weed and they might be able to help you.

Cannabis prices in Hong Kong

If the crooked dealers see a white tourist, they will try to sell you a bullet of hash for HK$2000 (about 250 US dollars) which is ridiculous. Don’t get spooked, say you already bought weed and hash here and that you know that the price is around HK$500 for an oz of weed (around $60). Higher quality weed will cost you somewhere around HK$3000 which is quite expensive.

Hash, on the other hand, is a lot cheaper. You can get an oz of poor quality hash for about HK$100 or an oz of high quality hash for HK$250.
